Join us at The Fire Station for a powerful evening of music, memories and community as Sunderland marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day.

As part of the city’s wider VE Day programme, this commemorative concert will feature live performances from a bugler, vintage vocalists, wartime readings by local dignitaries and Veterans, and a special appearance from Alfie Joey — all set within our beautifully restored Edwardian auditorium.

Earlier in the day, Keel Square will host a traditional street party, a charitable cake sale led by the WI and a lantern parade to bring the community together in remembrance and celebration.

Councillor Beth Jones, Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture and Tourism at Sunderland City Council, said:
“Commemorating VE Day is so important to remember the sacrifices and resilience of our ancestors, especially in Sunderland, where we were hit hard by bombing. The concert at The Fire Station is a fantastic opportunity for residents to mark this anniversary in a great local venue.”
