University of Sunderland guest ticket booking FAQs

Below you'll find details on booking guest tickets for your graduation at The Fire Station in July 2026.

You will have been sent an email from us outlining the booking process, please refer to this in the first instance and if you have further questions, please see the FAQs below.

Can I bring bags into the auditorium?
  • Yes, small A4-sized bags, are fine - anything larger cannot be taken into the auditorium at The Fire Station and there will be no cloakroom facilities on-site
Ticketing information
  • Each graduate may purchase up to two in-person guest tickets, which grant access to both the ceremony at The Fire Station and the post-ceremony celebrations in FireSide, The Fire Station’s graduation party tent
  • Guest ticket bookings open at 9am on Wednesday 03/06/26, and close at 5pm on 21/06/26
  • Late bookings will not be accepted
  • Tickets can be booked online via the link you were emailed by The Fire Station, using the promo code provided. If you can’t find this email, please check your Junk or Spam folder
  • You only need to book tickets for your guests – your ticket to attend the ceremony will be allocated by the University
  • Tickets cost £27 per person and all guests aged two and over require a ticket
  • Guests under the age of two do not require a ticket but must sit on the knee of the ticket holding guest. Please note that pushchairs are not permitted in the ceremony auditorium
  • Due to venue capacity essential companions, such as carers or support workers, are included in the two guest tickets to graduate ratio 
How to book
  • Click on the link and then enter your promo code (sent to you by The Fire Station on Monday 1st June)
Booking accessible tickets
  • If your guests are wheelchair users or have other access requirements – please contact The Fire Station by emailing info@thefirestation.org.uk  we have small number of wheelchair-accessible seating positions and some other seats with step-free access
  • Due to venue capacity essential companions, such as carers or support workers, are included in the two guest tickets to graduate ratio
  • The University campus and Fire Station are less than 500 metres apart and most graduates and their guests will be able to travel between the two venues easily. However, for those who need a little extra support with their mobility there will be accessible transport available, but this must be booked in advance by emailing Team Sunderland on: transport@sunderland.ac.uk
  • Please note that this service will have to travel through the City Centre and as such will not be a faster route between CitySpace and the Fire Station. Please only book this service if you need it
Transport to the Fire Station for Guests with Disabilities 
  • The University campus and Fire Station are less than 500 metres apart and most graduates and their guests will be able to travel between the two venues easily. However, for those who need a little extra support with their mobility there will be accessible transport available, but this must be booked in advance by emailing Team Sunderland on: transport@sunderland.ac.uk

Additional guest tickets
  • If additional guest tickets become available, graduates will be notified via email on 26/06/26, and tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that there are no guarantee additional tickets will be available and if you do not receive an email, no extra tickets are available
  • Due to self-selected seating, we cannot guarantee that any additional seats (if available) will be located next to those purchased during the initial booking phase, and your party may be seated separately
Cancelling tickets
  •  If, for any reason, you need to cancel your tickets or request a refund – you must contact graduations@sunderland.ac.uk

  • All queries should be directed to graduations@sunderland.ac.uk
